KINGSTON, Jamaica – Seven-year-old chestnut horse Mr Universe ticked the win column for the 13th occasion in his career from 44 starts with a comfortable victory in the Caymanas Saturday fifth.
Coming down the five straight course with Anthony Thomas in the saddle for trainer Gregory Forsyth, Mr Universe’s latest success came in a three-year-old and upwards claiming event for a tag of $1 million - $800,000.
Thomas had Mr Universe quickly out of the starting gates and immediately drifted from the five draw to the outside rails as Anaso (Dick Cardenas) provided the early challenge.
Coming onto the racetrack proper, Mr Universe dismissed Anaso going on to win by two lengths.
Papito (Tevin Foster) running on was second with Loose Ball (Roger Hewitt) third.
