KINGSTON, Jamaica – It just had to happen. It was probably the first time in living memory that former champion jockey Omar Walker was riding for former champion trainer Philp Feanny.
As the ninth race panned out 2-5 favourite Nuclear Flight ran like a wild animal, darting all over the place with her rider Dane Dawkins not able to have any control.
With about a furlong and a half left in the Open Allowance five straight event, Nuclear moved swiftly from almost the middle of the track charging into Peking Cruz who was nearer to the inside rails.
While this was happening, Walker on the Feanny trained Campesino was getting a clear run on the outside rails.
In the end Nuclear Flight went by the post in first position with a clocking of 58.3 with splits of 22.2 x 45.1.
Then came the inevitable disqualification.
