KINGSTON, Jamaica – The mid-week 10-race card at Caymanas Park today (February 13) is sure to provide a treat for racing fans. Gallopja.com searched and found some real interesting happenings and we bring this to the attention of our readers.
– Jockey Robert Halledeen seems to have taken over as the stable jockey for trainer Anthony Nunes. Halledeen is getting the choice rides for the in-form Nunes barn since the start of the year. This is quite interesting especially after Halledeen’s showboating on December 1, 2018 aboard now Horse of the Year, Will In Charge in the Diamond Mile. Today, Halledeen rides Envisaged, Princess Ava, Top Eagle and Cruising Motion for Nunes. Watch this combo closely.
– It is a known fact that Omar Walker is the stable jockey for champion trainer Wayne DaCosta. But with DaCosta not yet in gear this season, the winners have been few and far between for Walker. Now, for the first time in living memory, Walker has secured a mount from trainer Philip Feanny. Walker rides old stager Campesino for Feanny in the ninth event. In truth, one must consider this a truly rare moment in local racing.

– Every racing fan worthy of his/her salt must remember the wonderful partnership in the past involving trainer Wayne DaCosta and jockey Trevor Simpson. The two combined well with Simpson going on to break George HoSang’s record of most wins in a single year. Since then and especially with Simpson starting to ply his trade aboard, the two have rarely joined forces together. Well, today, for the first time in a long, long, while we have the DaCosta/Simpson combination again. Simpson rides the DaCosta trained Riddim Up in the day’s third race.
– When Michael Marlowe’s father Valbert won the Gold Cup back in the days with Kilowatt, the jockey doing duties was Cleveland Suckie. Now, today Michael, starts a four-bay filly for the first time by the name of Congrats Suckie. Gallopja.com is simply wondering if the name is in honour of Cleveland Suckie.
