KINGSTON, Jamaica – Joint champion jockey Anthony Thomas put the first tick in his win column with a patient and well-timed ride aboard the Howard Jaghai trained Chennai Express in the Caymanas Saturday (May 15) fifth.

This first win on the day thus far for Thomas came in a four-year-old and upwards - non-winners of two call at 7 furlongs.

Thomas broke well on Chennai Express but kept his mount in fourth place as Wifey Sez So (Javaniel Patterson) led the front pack.

Leaving the half-mile pole, She Boom (Youville Pinnock and D’s Choice (Oshane Nugent) made their moves on the outside but Thomas was still patient. D's Choice was Nugent's first ride in approximately two months after recuperating from a fall.

Still, unperturbed, Thomas split rivals entering the stretch for the last two furlongs and kept Chennai Express in the go mode before pulling away from rivals to win by 2 ¾ lengths. Second was SheBoom with 40-1 chance Silent Cat (Dane Dawkins) third.

For trainer Jaghai it was his second winner in 2021.
