KINGSTON, Jamaica – After a reduction in the number of starters from nine to seven, Prince Sammo duly obliged as the 3-5 on favourite in the Caymanas Saturday (May 15) fourth.

In doing so in a five-straight endeavour for five-year-old and upwards claimers ($180,000 - $150,000), Prince Sammo running for the 75th time earned his eighth victory, this time for trainer Ryan Darby and jockey Daniel Satchell.

Staying with the early pace after giving trouble to go into the starting gates, Prince Sammo stayed with Smokescreen (Aaron Chatrie) until crossing over to the main track.

It was then that Prince Sammo took over as Golden Emperor (Roger Hewitt) racing on the outside rails throughout came with a late flourish but it was a little too late. Third went to Smokescreen.
