KINGSTON, Jamaica – Three major races on the international racing will be competed for this weekend, Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2.
On Saturday, May 1, the Run for the Roses – the Kentucky Derby – will be run at Churchill Downs in Kentucky, USA. This race is competed for over a distance of 10 furlongs.
On the same day, at Newmarket in England, the 2000 Guineas for colts and geldings takes place. The 2000 Guineas is run over a mile.
Closing off this high-power weekend of international racing on Sunday, May 1 is the 1000 Guineas (one mile) for fillies to be run also on the Newmarket course.
