KINGSTON, Jamaica – Racing for the first time since December of last year, the 2020 Derby winner King Arthur blazed down the five straight course while enjoying the soft underfoot conditions to land the Caymanas Thursday sixth. That race was a four-year-old and upwards non-winners of four contest in which 13 horses reached the starting gates.

Looking the part after his rest, King Arthur trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Thomas having the reins in his hands raced prominently coming from the number 11 draw.

Basilicus (Chris Mamdeen) as expected was the leader racing in the middle of the race track with Salvation (Youville Pinnock) preferring to race on the inside rails.

With a furlong to go, King Arthur got into top gear as if sprouting wings to win by three lengths.

The splits were blazing 22.2 x 44.2 with an equally fast final time of 57.0 seconds just 4/5 of a second off the track record.

Excessive Force (Linton Steadman) was second and Cold Pursuit (Reyan Lewis) third.

King Arthur gave his trainer his second winner since he started to condition on local soil just two weeks ago.
