KINGSTON, Jamaica – There will be 11 races on Tuesday (March 30, 2021) card at Caymanas Park.
THE QUICK GALLOPER examined the 132 entries nominated in the 11 races and picked out things to note for readers.
1 – The day belongs to the farriers (blacksmiths). These behind the scenes racing professionals are often forgotten in the scheme of things but they perform a vital function – the shoeing of horses – without which the horses cannot race on the track. THE QUICK GALLOPER hails these professionals.
2 - The two joint champion jockeys Dane Nelson and Anthony Thomas dominate the programme with the number of rides they have received. Nelson rides in nine of the 11 races and not to be outdone Thomas mounts up eight times.
3 – The top-rated contest is an Open Allowance for three-year-olds and upwards over the five-straight course. Seven starters have taken up the challenge. Of the seven starters only one, Solid Approach, trained by Robert Pearson is a foreigner. Solid Approach is the only filly in this contest. Trainer Gary Subratie dominates this race with three of the seven runners – Sentient, Duke, and Crimson.
All of the Subratie trained horses are owned by The Success Farms. The oldest horse in the race is the seven-year-old Capturemyship.
4 – The oldest horse racing on the card is Sir Fredrick trained by veteran Howard McLeod. Sir Fredrick is an 11-year-old bay gelding by Storm Craft - Brenda’s Song. He has raced 51 times recording seven victories. Sir Fredrick has earned just over $3.7 million in his career and races in the second contest on the day.
5 – The horses with the most career starts are in order:
Boss Izzy 84
Demolition Boy 77
Cruising Motion 76
Lambana 76
Jason’s Gold 74

Lambana starting 76 time , still a maiden. Lambana is such a slow one pacer he could win a race coming out of the 9 furlong chute, but these races aren't run anymore for this set of horses. Question is can Lambana remain sound for 9 furlongs?
That is true. Lambana is ready to be pensioned.
