KINGSTON, Jamaica – The win by the Gary Subratie trained Sentient (Dane Nelson) was on the cards but the ease of victory which was expected did not materialise.

This trophy race was reduced to six competitors as number seven Jamai Raja was declared a very late non-starter deemed to be ineligible.

Roy Rogers (Jordan Barrett) took the six horses into the first turn and continued to lead while travelling down the backstretch with Sentient and Nelson watching closely in the second slot. Marquesas (Dick Cardenas) at this time was third.

While running around the second bend, Nelson made his move and took over the lead. At this time Crimson (Chris Mamdeen) was starting to accelerate.

Sentient had the advantage in the straight but in the last furlong had to be pushed out as stablemate Crimson was rapidly closing the gap.

In the end Sentient and Nelson lasted by three-parts-of–a-length with Crimson second and Roy Rogers third.

The final result gave trainer Subratie a one-two finish and Nelson his second winner on the trot.
