RACE DISTANCE: 5 ½ furlongs

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Kiaman McGregor, considered by many to be one of the better riders from his apprentice lot but who has been under the winner’s radar of late, revived his fortunes with a good effort on the Patrick “Wacky” Lynch trained Gimmipalinka.

That win by Gimmipalinka came in the third of 10 races on the Caymanas Saturday card which is currently in progress.

It was a restrained ride by McGregor, as after leading when the starting stalls were opened allowed Don Almighty (Aaron Chartie) to assumed the lead while racing on the outside. At that stage the 6-5 favourite Celebration (Roger Hewitt) was way behind as a result of a poor start.

With Don Almighty in the lead with three furlongs left in the contest, Kiaman McGregor pushed Gimmipalinka to challenge and with ease took over.

In the straight Don Almighty hit reverse as Gimmipalinka galloped resolutely to win by 2 ½ lengths.

Second was celebration running on with Don Almighty third.
