KINGSTON, Jamaica – It took a long time and 16 starts for three-year-old chestnut filly Triple Seven to become a winner. That winner's status was achieved in the Caymanas Sunday second call.
That event was the Dr Clifford Grey Memorial Cup competed for among three-year-old maidens at a distance of 6 ½ furlongs.
Triple Seven trained by Steven Todd and ridden by Linton Steadman shared the early lead before pulling away in the last two furlongs to win by 2 ¼ lengths.
Sheboom disappointed once again as the 3-5 favourite finishing second with Commandante Lunar third.
