KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Dane Nelson cut the lead of front running rival Anthony Thomas after a romp atop War of the Roses in the first race of 10 on the Saturday (Oct 10) card now in progress at Caymanas Park.

The event taken by War of the Roses trained by Adin “Dreadie” Williams was a three-year old maiden condition run over 7 ½ furlongs.

Nelson settled in fifth - sixth place when the 13 horses were sent on their way by the starter. The lead changed several times before Nelson pushed War of the Roses to the front approaching the turn for home and thereafter it was all done and dusted.

Gambler (Ramon Nepare) who stumbled when leaving her starting stall finished well to earn second while Lady Bastipur was third.

The winning time was 1:34.2.
