KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ten-year-old bay gelding El Cliente displayed his toughness and grit when under the guidance of apprentice Oshane Nugent, he was able to win the first of nine races on the Caymanas Park card a short while ago.
Trained by Ryan Darby, El Cliente was victorious in an Optional Claimer ($250,000 - $200,000) run over 6 ½ furlongs.
It was not an easy win for Nugent and El Cliente as they had to fight every step of the way to hold back the persistent challenge of Unbreakable who was heavily pumped by jockey Dane Nelson.
Nugent held firm and got the win by a short head.
Unbreakable was second and Shauna Cruise third.
