KINGSTON, Jamaica - The highly anticipated Mouttet Mile is just around the corner, scheduled for December 7.
Based on the Condition Book published by the promoting company, the Mouttet Mile boasts a total purse of approximately US$250,000 or JA$38 million.
With a maximum field of 16 horses expected to enter the starting gates, The Quick Galloper examines the purse payouts for the 2024 Mouttet Mile.
A notable difference in this race is that the first ten horses to finish will receive a portion of the purse, whereas the typical payout structure in Jamaica awards only the first six.
The connections of the Mouttet Mile winner will share a total of $20,900,000, divided as follows:
BREAKDOWN OF MOUTTET MILE WINNING PURSE
WINNING OWNER | 70% or $14,630,000
WINNING TRAINER | 15% or $3,135.000
WINNING JOCKEY | 10% or $2,090,000
WINNING GROOM | 5% or $1,045,000 |
This same percentage division applies to the purse pay-outs for horses finishing in positions one to ten in the Mouttet Mile.
Additionally, there is a breeders’ bonus of $1.2 million. It is important to note that if the Mouttet Mile winner is a foreign-bred horse, the breeders’ bonus will not be awarded to the winner. Instead, as with all races held in Jamaica, the breeders’ bonus will go to the first local-bred horse that finishes.
