KINGSTON, Jamaica – Fourteen three-year-olds engage in battle this Saturday (July 16) over six furlongs.
THE QUICK GALLOPER looks at each of the 14 runners to find the winner.
– OOH SO LONG is a bay filly (May 27) by Force De Jour out of Oolong trained by Gary Subratie with Richard Henry in the saddle. After nine starts this filly is yet to show any sign that she is even close to being on the board. Note, Ooh So Long races with the blinkers off, and with the visor and tongue tie on.
– BLUE SKY is a chestnut filly (May 2) by Here Comes Ben out of Breezy trained by Michael Marlowe with Daniel Thompson in the saddle. Still way off from being a bother to the principals. Note, first time Lasix.
– RUNAWAY ICON is a roan filly (March 6) by Deputy Glitters out of Runaway Silver trained by Howard Jaghai with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. This filly returns to competitive racing after a break of 175 days. In her only outing (4 ½ furlongs) on January 22, Runaway Icon finished fourth behind Valhalla, Rum Puncher, and Brompton Alex. Runaway Icon has been active at exercise and with the champion and leading rider taking the ride, Runaway Icon is poised for a good effort.
– FYFFES PEN LIZ is a grey filly (January 28) by Midnight Hawk out of Sexy Moon trained by Ryan Darby with Matthew Bennett in the saddle. Coming along, yet more time is needed.
– NOA LI is a bay filly (April 10) by Forest Danger out of Celine trained by Anthony Nunes with Odeen Ellis in the saddle. Learning her trade.
– WOWTASTIC is a bay filly (February 20) by Perfect Curlin out of Sarah Barracuda trained by Anthony Nunes with Reyan Lewis in the saddle. Continued her development with a third-place effort on last (July 10), six days ago at the same distance as Saturday’s call. The quick turnaround should not be an issue for Wowtastic, who is now presented with her best opportunity of winning.
– LADY BEN is a bay filly (January 9) by Here Comes Ben out of Lady Maragin trained by Michael Marlowe with Prince Holder in the saddle. This is Lady Ben’s 12th run, and in those 12 runs, she has not rattled any feathers.
– EMPRESS NAKELIA is a chestnut filly (February 28) by Deputy Glitters out of Aguila trained by Robert Ffrench with Kiaman McGregor in the saddle. Needs time.
– TRADITIONAL LADY is a bay filly (April 19) by Traditional out of Always In The Mood trained by Patrick Lynch with Dick Cardenas in the saddle. This filly is coming along and has a chance of finishing in the top four.
– LOVE DUB is a bay filly (April 15) by Sensational Slam out of Iamallaboutthebest trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Love Dub is getting closer and closer, and was just half-a-length behind Minidewak (seven furlongs) 20 days ago. Then Love Dub had the better of Wowtastic, making this event a contest between the two.
– KETURAH is a bay filly (April 14) by Legal Process out of Kalamata trained by Patrick Lynch with Daniel Satchell in the saddle. Keturah has not faced the starter although being nominated twice.
– NORTH LONDON is a bay filly (May 8) by Savoy Stomp out of Right Marker trained by Ryan Darby with Phillip Parchment in the saddle. North London was expected to deliver before and has failed to do so. That trend is expected to continue Saturday.
– ZION’S PRINCESS is a bay filly (April 25) by Midnight Hawk out of Lookatmenow trained by Michael Beecham with Ruja Lahoe in the saddle. Time is needed.
– PREMIER IDENTITY is a chestnut filly (April 5) by Bern Identity out of Twist and Turn trained by Howard Jaghai with Andre Powell in the saddle. Learning her trade.
