KINGSTON, Jamaica – The final race day of 2023, Saturday, December 30, features the fifth race: a three-year-old maiden call for horses that haven't earned $280,000 lifetime.

The race spans five furlongs straight with 12 entrants.

Below is The Quick Galloper's assessment of the participating horses:

– GAME TO FAME is a bay gelding trained by Al Brown and ridden by Phillip Parchment. After rearing up at the start in his last race (December 26), he made up lost ground to finish fourth. With expected improvement, he could play a significant role in this contest but may be hampered by the one draw coming down the straight.

– STORM BOY is a brown colt trained by Courtney Williams and ridden by Ramon Nepare. Racing without a visor, after a poor start on December 17, he failed to participate and isn't considered a contender.

– ZAYN'S PRINCESS is a chestnut filly ridden by Dane Dawkins and trained by Barrington Bernard. Racing with blinkers off and first-time Lasix, she may see improved performance but without a guaranteed win.

– SUGAR SUGAR is a chestnut filly trained by Michael Marlowe and ridden by Trevor Simpson. Possessing speed, she needs to maintain her gallop effectively in the final stretch for a chance at victory.

– EMPRESS IN THE BREEZE is a chestnut filly that isn't expected to fare well against competitors.

– XYLOPHONIC STEEL is a bay filly with 15 prior appearances but has yet to demonstrate a readiness for a winning run.

– DOUBLE THE CASH is a bay colt nearing peak performance after five starts and should be taken seriously.

– TEQUILA FLIGHT is a grey filly racing with first-time Lasix. With two fourth-place finishes already, she is expected to have a say in this race.

– AVA'S SUNSHINE is a bay filly fit and ready for the race, making her hard to deny.

– SHE'S ALONE is a chestnut filly that has been trying her best lately and may place on the board.

– SELECT PRINCE is a bay colt that hasn't demonstrated any notable performance in his six starts.

– ALTITUDE is a bay colt unlikely to deliver victory.
