KINGSTON, Jamaica - Champion jockey Reyan Lewis has now joined an elite group of riders to achieve the milestone of riding 100 winners in a single racing year. The year in question is 2023.
In 2023, Lewis earned his first championship success by piloting 99 winners according to the final statistics published by the promoting company. Those 99 winners came from a total of 386 rides for a win percentage of 26 per cent.
Then on September 12, 2024, an official news release was published by the regulatory arm of racing, the Jamaica Racing Commission announcing the disqualification of Snowflakes from first place in the second race on Saturday, July 8, 2023, due to a positive finding.
Finishing second in that July 8, 2023, event was Fault Line ridden by Lewis and trained by Jason DaCosta. With the disqualification of Snowflakes, DaCosta’s winning tally moved from 79 to 80 wins.
For Lewis it means the addition of one winer, moving him from 99 to the magical total of 100.
